Coventry City Council have published photos on Flickr of their vision of the centre and are asking for your opinions. PLEASE PLEASE click on the images and tell them what you think. Only, of course, if you agree with me and weep with sadness at the grey grey vision on concrete the Council think we need. We don’t need grass, we don’t need trees, just more flat grey spaces that we can sit out on for the 3 weeks each summer warm enough to do so.
The £1billion Jerde plans for the centre were centred around parks and water and green, and obviously never going to happen…then the bankers stole the £1billion and we thought we’d never see a beautiful remodelling of Coventry…seems we were right. All I can fathom from these artist’s impressions are the the Council are sacking all the Council Gardeners.
Imagine how drab the squares will look in the rain and ice. Imagine the poor workmanship and loose slabs. Easy isn’t it?
Imagine bands and jugglers in the heart of the city outside the sadly not remodelled Cathedral Lanes. Imagine the St Mark’s Square style cafes serving gelato…hard isn’t it?
People of Coventry keep saying they want more green spaces and more places for family, friends to spend time. This grey landscape is NOT that.
